
Pesticides that have been organically approved include natural permitted substances within organic standards. When the term “Certified Organic” is used on products including tobacco, the product has been certified by a certifying body. Products including tobacco grown on certified organic farms are promoted and labeled as “Certified Organic”.
Numerous studies although inconclusive have revealed that organically grown crops are less likely to test positive for a toxic heavy metal know as cadmium that accumulates in the kidneys and liver. Tests have shown that organic produce has a higher antimutagenic and antioxidant activity and combined showed a better suppression of cancer cell proliferation. Organic produce including tobacco contain fewer pesticides, produce is much fresher as it has no preservatives to make it last longer and organic farming is by far the better option for the environment.
